Immortals Jiu Jitsu

Adult program

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Adult Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, trained no-gi — faster, sweatier, closest to wrestling and MMA.

The adult no-gi class at Immortals gathered together on the mats in rashguards after training.

What it is

This is the adult Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) program at Immortals, and we train it no-gi. Without a jacket to grip, the pace goes up and you rely on body control, underhooks, and pressure instead of collar and sleeve. It is the style closest to wrestling and to MMA, it is beginner-friendly from your first class, and it runs several nights a week. (Gi training here is for kids only.)

What a class looks like

Warm-up, then a coach teaches a no-gi specific position — a body-lock pass, a leg entry, a guard retention detail — and breaks it into pieces you drill with a partner. Then you roll. No-gi scrambles are quick, so beginners are paired carefully and coached to move at a manageable pace. A first-timer rolls light with someone experienced; nobody is trying to hurt you. Live sparring closes the class.

Beginner-friendly, not watered down

Without grips the exchanges speed up, which sounds intimidating and rarely is. New people are matched with partners who control the pace, and the fundamentals are taught assuming you have never grappled. You learn frames, underhooks, and pressure — skills that transfer everywhere.

Two fighters grappling in an MMA bout, one landing ground strikes from top position — the no-gi and MMA crossover.

The MMA and wrestling crossover

No-gi is the grappling you see in mixed martial arts and it shares a language with wrestling. If that is your background or your goal, this is the room — and it pairs directly with our wrestling and Muay Thai programs.
